NonProfit Email Marketing Research

\"EmailAt OrgSpring, we\’re constantly trying to improve the ways nonprofits use technology, by creating case studies, white papers, tutorials, templates, informative articles, and more. Now, we\’re conducting research into the ways nonprofits use email marketing, with a goal to better understand the email features that nonprofits use in an effort to fulfill their missions. The survey is 9 questions long and takes approximately 30 seconds to complete.

The Current State of Email Marketing

Email marketing companies provide a wide array of products and services of interest to nonprofits, like auto-responders, drag and drop template editing, and custom web forms. However, it is our contention that email marketing for nonprofits could be better; and we mean that in two ways.

  1. We believe the technology exists to provide a better experience for the nonprofit user, with maximum integration between blogs, websites, and social media networks; and at a price which doesn\’t break the bank. We believe these things are the responsibility of our email marketing system providers.
  2. We also know that many nonprofits do not use current email marketing systems to their fullest potential – often not taking advantage of the system\’s complete list of capabilities; and that is where the nonprofit itself needs to improve.

The Challenge

Our goal with this survey is to identify how nonprofits use email marketing on a daily / monthly basis, and to determine the level of awareness of current email marketing technology.

But we\’re not doing this as a purely academic endeavor. Our second goal is to initiate real change. To make the email marketing companies sit up and take notice, and to acknowledge the needs and wants of nonprofit organizations. Our hope is that email marketing companies will make their systems easier to use with features for relevant to nonprofits. We\’ll even tell you how we plan to accomplish that task in the How You Can Help Section below.

How You Can Help

Help us advocate on behalf of all nonprofits by completing the OrgSpring Nonprofit Email Marketing Survey.

When we\’ve garnered enough responses we\’ll compile the results into a handy-dandy infographic and make it public for everyone to see. We\’ll also contact every major email marketing provider with the results in an attempt to make email marketing programs more user-friendly and cost-efficient for nonprofits.
