Steel City Nonprofits is Live in Pittsburgh!

\"Steel-city-nonprofits-logo-260x200\"I\’m very excited to announce the launch of Steel City Nonprofits, Pittsburgh\’s newest tech club for nonprofits –  a partnership between OrgSpring and the Nonprofit Technology Network (NTEN).

Steel City Nonprofits is not just a group of techies sitting in a circle at Starbucks. In fact, we don\’t require (or expect) members to have any tech expertise or background at all. Our goal is to bring together nonprofit execs and professionals in a fun forum to discuss technology, and how we can better make it work for our organizations.

We want people to bring us their tech issues or questions. We want nonprofit staff members to learn that technology can be made to work for us, not be a source of frustration – no matter what our skill levels might be with computers or mobile devices.

If you come with an open mind and willingness to learn, we\’re going to show you some really cool products and services you can get for FREE, and things you can do right away to help improve efficiency at you organization, increase engagement, even raise donations, manage projects, and get more done online.

We thought a great way to start off this group would be to introduce our local nonprofits to the Pittsburgh library system, and to show off all the cool services and technology the library has to offer local nonprofits.
We\’re going to discuss:

  • getting access to the nation\’s largest foundation database so nonprofits can put together potential grant funder lists.
  • getting free trade journals and magazines
  • helping nonprofit staff members learn new languages
  • getting staff trained on mobile device usage
  • and much much more

Our partnership with NTEN is giving us some leverage to create some really cool events. We\’ll have food and drinks at each meeting, and some cool swag too. We\’ll also have some cool prizes from NTEN like discounts on products from their site. OrgSpring will be sponsoring and throwing in free services for nonprofits as well.

Our first event is on Thursday November 21, 2013 between 2-4 pm at the GreenTree public library.

We\’ll be discussing technology and services that the Pittsburgh Public library system provides for free to help nonprofits become more efficient and better able to accomplish their missions.

Guest can register for free directly on the Steel City Site here:

You can also visit us on our meetup page here.

We\’re really excited about the launch of this new tech group for Pittsburgh area nonprofits and we hope to see you at our first meeting!
